Zomig Tablets migraine headache response*
In 2 clinical studies, adult patients with moderate or severe migraine headaches were treated with Zomig Tablets 2.5 mg or a placebo (sugar pill).
In the first study, 260 patients were treated with Zomig 2.5 mg and 121 patients were treated with placebo. In the second study, 178 patients were treated with Zomig 2.5 mg and 92 patients were treated with placebo.
For each study, the graphs below show the percentage of patients with moderate or severe headache who improved to mild headache or no pain 2 hours after treatment.
*Headache response was defined as a moderate or severe headache improving to mild headache or no pain.
In 4 clinical studies, adult patients with moderate or severe migraine headaches were treated with Zomig Tablets 5 mg or a placebo (sugar pill). The headache response referred to in the study results below is defined as the percentage of patients with moderate or severe headache who improved to mild headache or no pain 2 hours after treatment.
- In Study 1, 245 patients were treated with Zomig 5 mg and 121 patients were treated with placebo. Headache response was found in 67% of patients on Zomig 5 mg and 34% of patients on placebo
- In Study 2, 179 patients were treated with Zomig 5 mg and 88 patients were treated with placebo. Headache response was found in 66% of patients on Zomig 5 mg and 19% of patients on placebo
- In Study 3, 491 patients were treated with Zomig 5 mg and 55 patients were treated with placebo. Headache response was found in 59% of patients on Zomig 5 mg and 44% of patients on placebo
- In Study 4, 20 patients were treated with Zomig 5 mg and 19 patients were treated with placebo. Headache response was found in 60% of patients on Zomig 5 mg and 16% of patients on placebo
In the only study that directly compared Zomig Tablets 2.5 mg and Zomig Tablets 5 mg, there was little added benefit from the larger 5-mg dose, but side effects were generally increased at 5 mg. Patients should, therefore, be started on a dose of 2.5 mg or lower. A dose of lower than 2.5 mg can be achieved by manually breaking the scored 2.5 mg Tablet in half. Please be certain that you take Zomig exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
